
The Alausa Chapter was officially inaugurated on September 25, 2018, marking a significant milestone in the professionalization of the HR cadre within the Lagos State Public Service. The event was declared open by the former Lagos State Head of Service, Mrs. Adesoye Folasade Adeoye, who charged HR practitioners to uphold excellence in their duties. She emphasized that professionalizing the HR cadre was crucial to developing a competent, ethical, and versatile workforce in the State’s public sector.
The inauguration was a key moment in the structured development of HR professionals, beginning with the certification of over 300 Administrative and HR Officers and the rollout of various training programs. A highlight of the event was the swearing-in of the newly elected executive members, signifying a fresh phase of leadership for the Chapter.
The event underscored the vital role of HR in the Lagos State Public Service, reinforcing its impact on professionalism, integrity, diligence, and best practices. Special recognition was also given to Lagos State’s achievement in winning the HR Best Practice Award in the Public Sector Category, further affirming its commitment to HR excellence.
The Guest Speaker, Mr. Olusegun Mojeed, FCIPM, HRPL, FITD, and Executive Consultant at Bezaleel Consulting, delivered an insightful presentation on Sustaining a Growth Mindset through HR.” He urged attendees to embrace continuous learning, adaptability, and transformational thinking—emphasizing the transition from a Growth Mindset to an Outward Mindset for sustained professional and organizational development.
In conclusion, the HR Family was assured that this new phase would drive significant advancements in capacity development, professionalism, and strategic positioning of the HR cadre within the Lagos State Public Service.
The Pioneer Chairman of the Alausa Chapter, Mr. Sarumi H. Babatunde, MCIPM, alongside his executive team, laid the foundation for the chapter’s growth between 2018 and 2019. Leadership was later handed over to Mrs. George Abosede Oluwakemi, FCIPM, who steered the affairs of the Chapter from 2020 to 2022.
